The Ruschmeyer R90 is a single-engine, four-seat aircraft from the German manufacturer ATC Aircraft Technology Center.

history

Based on the Ruschmeyer MF-85 , the aircraft was developed by Horst Ruschmeyer (managing director of Ruschmeyer Aircraft Production KG , now ATC Aircraft Technology Center ) and Reinhard Molck (development manager) in Melle . It was in the R90-230 RG instead of then and now customary epoxy resin of the company for the first time with BASF in aircraft Vinylesterharz in conjunction with glass and carbon fibers as a fiber composite material officially approved by the company Ruschmeyer for aircraft and used.

The first flight of the MF-85 P-RG (M for Molck and 85 for the beginning of development), developed from 1985 onwards, took place with a 6-cylinder Porsche PFM 3200 aircraft engine on August 8, 1988 in Bückeburg with Heiner Neumann as the pilot ( aircraft registration number : D-EEHE ). The next two machines were already under construction when Porsche withdrew from aircraft engine production in March 1990 for cost reasons. The machine was then redesigned to use the proven IO-540 six-cylinder engine from the American manufacturer Lycoming , which was given the name R90-230RG (R for Ruschmeyer and 230 for the engine power in PS, RG for the retractable gear ). Heiner Neumann carried out the first flight of the R90 on September 23, 1990 and on June 12, 1992 the machine received approval from the Federal Aviation Authority . In 1993, the second prototype was equipped with an Allison 250-N17B propeller turbine with 420 hp, which was named R90-420AT Lightning . In 1994 another version with a fixed chassis was launched as an entry-level version. In 1995 Ruschmeyer's company (after investments of 40 million DM) became insolvent and was dissolved in March 1996. Today 27 of the 29 machines of this type (26 series machines and 3 prototypes) are still flying and are still being tested and possibly serviced by the ATC company in Melle at the Melle-Grönegau airfield .

construction

The drive is a Lycoming -Triebwerk type IO-540-C4D5 installed. The six-cylinder horizontally opposed engine delivers 172 kW (234 hp) at 2400 min -1 in the throttled state and making the aircraft in order to leisesten and economical in its class. The four-blade propeller with constant speed and hydraulic blade adjustment is supplied by MT-Propeller . When cruising, the machine reaches a speed of 165  knots (305 km / h). The aircraft , built as a low -wing aircraft, has a retractable three-legged landing gear .
