The Russell nunatak is a solitary and rounded nunatak in the east Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . It rises 10 miles east of the Masson Range and 7 miles southeast of Mount Henderson .
He was first sighted in December 1954 by a team as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions under the direction of Robert George Dovers (1921-1981). The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named him John Russell in 1955, an engineer at Mawson Station in 1954.
