The Russkiy Toy ( Russian Русский той ), also Russian Toy , is a breed of dogs from Russia recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 9, Section 9, Standard No. 352 ).
history
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the English toy was a very popular dog in Russia. Nevertheless, he was not or hardly bred as a breed there, only in the 1950s began breeding of Toy Terriers again. For this, however, not only English toy terriers were used, but also animals without pedigree . A preliminary breed standard was drawn up, which differed from that of the English toys, so that the Russian toys began to develop into a breed of their own . The standard initially only provided for short-haired dogs. From 1958 a long-haired variety was also bred, which was named Moscow Long-haired Toy Terrier ( московский длинношерстный той-терьер ).
Exterior
The Russkiy Toy grows up to 29 centimeters and weighs three kilograms. The hair is either short and straight or long and straight or slightly wavy in the colors black with tan , blue with tan, rarely brown with tan, or in all shades of red, possibly with a brown cloud. The long-haired variety has long, fringed hair on the ears that completely covers the outer corners in older dogs.
Essence
The Russkiy Toy is a lively, very joyful dog that shouldn't be fearful or aggressive.
