Rutana is a city in the south of Burundi and the capital of the province of Rutana .
geography
In the north it borders on the municipality of Buraza , in the southwest on the municipality of Gitanga , in the south on the municipality of Bukemba , in the southeast on the municipality of Mpinga and Kayove , in the east on the municipalities of Giharo and Musongati and in the west on the municipality of Rutovu .
A few kilometers from Rutana are the factories of Sosumo , a state-owned company in the Moso sugar industry.
The city is west of Mount Kikizi , one of the highest mountains in the nation. The Kagera Falls are also close to the city. It is the capital of Rutana Province , one of the 17 provinces of Burundi.
