Rutennu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rutennu were an ancient people in the Levant in Retjenu , which was temporarily part of the Assyrian Empire , at the time of Thutmose III. but Egypt had to pay tribute. The names Ober-Ruten for Canaan and Unter-Ruten for Northern Syria go back to them.

A Rutennu is perhaps depicted on a tomb in Thebes, Egypt , as Austen Henry Layard mentions.
