Ruth Lange (athlete)

Ruth (Utti) Lange (born March 13, 1908 in Bernburg (Saale) ; † 1994 ) was a German athlete who was successful in the shot put and discus throw in the 1920s .

In 1927 Ruth Lange was German champion in the shot put with 11.32 m and in the discus throw with 34.75 m. She set several world records in the shot put: 10.84 m on May 28, 1927 in Prague, 11.32 m on August 6, 1927 in Breslau, 11.52 m on June 3, 1928 in Berlin. In contrast to two other achievements, these records were recognized by the FSFI . When this world association for women's athletics joined the IAAF in 1934 , these services were not taken over (only the record valid in 1934). The athlete starting for SCC Berlin was no longer active. Her sister was the later Justice Minister of the GDR Hilde Benjamin . Lange was a trained sports teacher at the German University for Physical Education , she taught in East Berlin's government district in the Pankow district .
