Ruth Nye

Ruth Nye , MBE (* around 1932 in Australia as Ruth Farren Price ) is an Australian pianist and piano teacher.

Life

Nye is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Farren Price. She studied music at Melbourne Con. At a young age she played at Elizabeth Bay House in Sydney, among others . In Australia, she was best known for her television music for ABC television in the 1960s . In 1952 she took part in an ABC music competition and reached the finals.

The Chilean pianist Claudio Arrau invited her to New York to study after hearing a performance by her in Melbourne . After training with Claudio Arrau and working together for 30 years, she moved to London after his death in 1991 . She played six times at Queen Elizabeth Hall and five times at Wigmore Hall . She has been teaching at the Yehudi Menuhin School for over twelve years . In 2007 she received the Order of the British Empire (MBE). In 2008 she was awarded a membership at the Royal College of Music by Charles, Prince of Wales .

She lives in London with her husband Ross Nye .
