Ruth Wiederhold (born August 20, 1923 in Leipzig ) is a former German athlete who competed in all throwing disciplines. She achieved her greatest success in the discus throw .

In 1949, 1951, 1953 and 1954 she was GDR champion in the discus throw . In 1950, 1952 and 1955 it took second place respectively, and in 1956 and 1957 it reached third place. She was also championship runner-up in the shot put in 1951, 1952 and 1954 ; In 1950 she took fourth place in the javelin throw. From 1951 to 1957 Ruth Wiederhold competed in seven international matches wearing the GDR national jersey. At the UIE Sports Weeks, the Universiade of the Eastern Bloc, she took fourth place in the discus throw in 1951.

From 1950 with 39.16 m to 1954 with 44.06 m, Ruth Wiederhold improved the GDR record in discus throwing six times, on May 19, 1951 she was the first female thrower in the GDR to exceed the 40-meter mark with 40.15 m. She reached her personal best in 1958 with 46.16 m, with the ball she reached 12.82 m in 1957. Wiederhold started first for Empor Leipzig Lindenau, then for Konsum Leipzig, then again for Empor Leipzig Lindenau and later for the SC Rotation Leipzig .

She lives in Leipzig and took part in competitions until 2002.
