Ruth Williams-Simpson
Ruth Williams-Simpson (née Williams; born October 19, 1949 in Saint Mary Parish ) is a former Jamaican sprinter .
In 1971 she won bronze in the 4-by-400-meter relay at the Pan American Games in Cali .
At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, she was eliminated over 400 m and in the 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run.
Over 200 m she won bronze at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 1973 and was fifth at the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch in 1974. 1975 followed a bronze medal over 400 m at the Central America and Caribbean Championships.
At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, she reached the quarter-finals over 400 m and was disqualified with the Jamaican team in the run-up to the 4-by-400-meter relay .
In 1978 she reached the semifinals of the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton over 400 m. At the Olympic Games in 1980, she came over 400 m and in the 4-by-400-meter relay not beyond the first round.
She set her personal best over 400 m of 52.8 s in 1976.
