from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ruth von Scholley (born May 16, 1893 in Stuttgart ; † February 7, 1969 there ) was a German painter.

Well-known paintings

In 1925 Ruth von Scholley painted a portrait of Ludwig von Köhler , the then rector of the University of Tübingen for the professors' gallery there .

An oil painting presumably painted by Scholley was acquired at an auction in 2012 by the Painting and Sculpture Collection in Nuremberg's Fembohaus City Museum . It is a hitherto unknown male portrait that was identified as the portrait of Carl Johannes Fuchs . The painting is not signed, there is only a barely legible inscription in pencil on the back of the painting, which reads as “v. Scholley ”can be interpreted. The shoulder piece portrait shows Professor Fuchs in his official robe. It is believed that it was cut from an originally larger format.

Von Scholley's 51 × 61 cm still life with an Asian vase and wobbly pagoda has an exhibition label from the Württembergischer Kunstverein on the back .

reception

When creating her graphics and paintings, she stood out for her precise ability to observe people, in particular.
