Alice Ruth Bolton (born May 25, 1967 in Lucedale , Mississippi , United States ; at times also Ruthie Bolton-Holifield ) is a former professional basketball player. She played for the Sacramento Monarchs in the Women's National Basketball Association as a shooting guard .

Career

Women's National Basketball Association

Bolton was assigned to the Sacramento Monarchs at the 1997 Initial Player Allocation . Bolton played for the Monarchs in the WNBA from 1997 to 2004. At the end of the 2004 season , Bolton announced her retirement from competitive sports at the age of 37.

She was honored for her achievements in the WNBA 2006 in the election of the WNBA All-Decade Team . Although she was not one of the ten players directly elected to the team, she was honored with the addition of an “Honorable Mention” along with four other players.

Europe

For several years she was also active for clubs in Europe.

International

Bolton won gold with the US women's basketball team at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney . In 1998 she was also world champion and in 1994 third in the basketball world championship.
