Ruud Janssen (born July 29, 1959 in Tilburg ) is a Dutch painter .

Life

Janssen studied physics and mathematics. He is a teacher, artist, author, editor and has been involved in Mail Art and Fluxus activities since the 1980s . He organized many international Mail Art projects, gave and publishes various articles and magazines (TAM Bulletins, Statements, Secret Thoughts on Mail Art, the IUOMA magazine), as well as booklets for his TAM publications.

In 1983 he became curator of the largest collection of international rubber stamps, which also enjoys great international renown. In the same year he founded the TAM stamp archive and in 1985 was one of the founders of the International Union of Mail Artists (IUOMA).

One of the most important Mail-Art projects that Janssen has carried out is the Mail Interview Project (from 1994 to 2001). Several interviews were conducted simultaneously worldwide using different forms of communication. Fluxus artists such as Dick Higgins , Ken Friedman and several active mail art artists such as Klaus Groh , Ray Johnson , Jürgen O. Olbrich , Guy Bleus , Ruggero Maggi and Anna Banana were interviewed . The interviews are published as hard copies, but are also published on several websites. In 1996 he started his anthology on the Internet, which he is regularly expanding.

Since 2001 he has concentrated more on painting with acrylic paints on paper, canvas, CDs and envelopes.

Together with Litsa Spathi he founded “Fluxus Heidelberg” and also does performances under this name. Litsa Spathi and Ruud Janssen have been working together at the Fluxus Heidelberg Center since 2003 .
