Ryūji Sugimoto ( Japanese 杉 本 竜 士 ; born June 1, 1993 in Fuchū , Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese football player .

Career

Ryūji Sugimoto learned to play football in the Tokyo Verdy youth team. The club from Tokyo prefecture played in the second division, the J2 League. It was here that he signed his first contract in 2012. By 2016 he had played a total of 88 second division games. From July 2013 to January 2014 he was loaned to the fourth division Machida Zelvia to Machida . In 2017 he moved from Verdy to league rivals Nagoya Grampus in Nagoya . With Nagoya he was third in the table at the end of the 2017 season and thus rose to the first division. After promotion, he left the club and joined the second division side Tokushima Vortis . For the club from Tokushima , he completed 61 second division games. In early 2020, the first division club Yokohama F. Marinos from Yokohama signed him
