Ryan Regez (born January 30, 1993 ) is a Swiss freestyle skier . He starts in the ski cross discipline .

Career

Regez grew up in Wengen and is a Swiss-British citizen and a member of the Wengen Ski Club.

On February 15, 2014 Regez competed in his first FIS race. He finished 40th in Watles . He started the European Cup for the first time in January 2015 in Orcières and won the overall victory in the 2015/16 season and thus secured a place in the A-squad. He made his debut in the Freestyle World Cup on December 5, 2015 in Montafon and achieved 58th place. The 2016/17 season went well, but in the penultimate race in Sunny Valley , Russia , he fell while in the lead in the 1/8 final and tore a cruciate ligament. Nevertheless, he finished 30th final this season and 136th place in the overall standings. After this injury, he started again in the following season in the European Cup, which he won for the second time as overall winner.

Regez surprisingly achieved the first World Cup victory on February 16, 2019 in Feldberg . The next day he confirmed this victory with a third place, which earned him 9th place with 267 points in the 2018/19 season . He started the 2019/20 season with a third place in Val Thorens, France . His second World Cup victory followed on December 14, 2019 in Montafon, and the third on January 25, 2020 in Idre . As the best Swiss, he finished the season with 2nd place in ski cross and 16th in the overall World Cup, which is his best result in the World Cup so far.

On March 7, 2020, he became Swiss champion in ski cross for the first time in Crans-Montana .
