Ryan Sharp

Ryan Sharp (born April 29, 1979 in Newtonhill ) is a British racing driver .

Career

Sharp began his motorsport career in karting in 1992 and switched to British Formula First in 1999. In the years that followed, the Scot drove in the British Formula Ford . In 2002 Sharp switched to the British Formula Renault and finished sixth in the overall standings. He also competed in a Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup race. 2003 Sharp was active in four racing series. He took part in some races of the Formula Renault V6 Eurocup and the Italian Formula Renault and drove the entire season in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, in which he finished fifth in the overall standings. He also became a champion of the German Formula Renault.

In 2004 Sharp only competed in the Formula Renault V6 Eurocups and secured the runner- up title for Jenzer Motorsport . In 2005 the Scot moved to David Price Racing in the GP2 series . Sharp scored two points and was replaced by Giorgio Mondini after seven race weekends . In the overall standings he finished 23rd. Sharp returned to Jenzer Motorsport for the rest of the year and drove in the World Series by Renault .

In 2006 Sharp switched to JAS Motorsport in the WTCC and was 21st overall. In 2007 Sharp competed in the FIA GT Championship . For JetAlliance , Sharp secured the runner-up title in the series in an Aston Martin . Sharp won three races with his team mate Karl Wendlinger , a former Formula 1 driver. In 2008 Sharp stayed with JetAlliance in the FIA ​​GT Championship. Karl Wendlinger remained his teammate. In the championship, Sharp finished ninth after nine out of ten races.
