Ryszard Jerzy Galla (born July 22, 1956 in Breslau , Poland ) is a Polish politician belonging to the German minority in the Polish Parliament (Sejm) . He is also the deputy chairman of the Social-Cultural Society of Germans in Opole-Silesia , President of the House for German-Polish Cooperation in Gliwice and a member of the board of the Association of German Social-Cultural Societies in Poland .

Ryszard Galla is an engineer by profession - he completed his studies at the engineering college in Opole (today the college is called the Technical University of Opole ). Galla also completed postgraduate studies in health care administration.

From 1998 to 2005 he was a member of the Sejmik of the Opole Voivodeship - he was Vice-Marshal in the Sejmik (apart from a break in 2002, when he was marshal).

In the 2001 parliamentary election campaign, Ryszard Galla ran for a seat in the Sejm without success. In the following election campaign in 2005, Galla was elected to the Polish parliament with 9072 votes, as well as in the parliamentary elections in 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019. He has been the only representative of the German minority in the Sejm since 2007 - for national and ethnic minorities in Poland there is five Percentage hurdle is not binding. In the Polish Parliament he is a member of the parliamentary committees for public funds and for national and ethnic minorities. Galla is also a member of the Polish-German, Polish-Kazakh, Polish-Latvian and Polish-Czech parliamentary groups.

At the end of December 2012, the politician became loud in the Polish media when the chairman of the Law and Justice party Jaroslaw Kaczynski called for the rights of the German minority in Poland to be curtailed.
