Sándor Reményik
Sándor Reményik (* the 30th August 1890 in Cluj , † 24. October 1941 ) was a Hungarian poet of the period between the two world wars.
Life
Sándor Reményik graduated from school in Cluj-Napoca. Here he also began his law studies, but did not graduate because of an eye disease. He lived from his legacy and writing. His first poems were Mindhalálig ('Until Death') in 1918 and Végvári versek ('Poems of Végvár') 1918–1921, 1921. These poems soon became popular. In the 1920s his poems reflected "Transilvanism". His verses contain images of nature, philosophical questions and humor. Symbolism plays an important role in this. His poems have been translated into different languages: English, Czech, French, Polish, German, Italian, Romanian, Swedish and Slovak.
