São Geraldo chalice
The artistically high-standing São Geraldo chalice ( Portuguese Cálice de São Geraldo ) made of gold-plated silver is the only early medieval work of toreutics in Portugal . An archbishop of Braga had it made in the 10th century.
The cuppa of the chalice is decorated with a surrounding tendril. The four recessed round areas depict a lion and an eagle . The shaft, pierced with horseshoe arches, has a Mozarabic influence.
The chalice is exhibited in the Cathedral Museum (Museu da Sé de Braga ).
