The so-called pillar testament ( Tib . : bka 'chems ka khol ma ) is a Tibetan text from the 11th century that contains older text passages. It is traditionally attributed to the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo . It is said to have been hidden in a pillar in the Jokhang in Lhasa and discovered as Terma in 1049 by Atisha (982-1054) . Many later texts on Tibetan history, such as the Scholars ' Festival of Joy ( mkhas pa'i dga' ston ) of Pawo Tsuglag Threngwa , lean on him. The life story of Songtsen Gampo is told in relatively detail.

The column testament attributes the invention of the Tibetan script to Thonmi Sambhota .
