The Sävarån is a river in the municipalities Skellefteå , Vindeln and Umeå in the province of Västerbotten County in northern Sweden .

The river has its origin in Lake Lossmenträsket . From there it flows in a predominantly south-southeast direction. It flows through the lakes Storsävarträsket and Lillsävarträsket , passes the towns of Botsmark, Bullmark and Sävar and flows into the Sävarfjärden and the Gulf of Bothnia after about 140 km at Skeppsvik, about 10 km east of the city of Umeå . The catchment area covers 1161.3 km², the mean discharge is 14 m³ / s.
