Sætet (Norwegian for seat ) is a large mountain basin in Queen Maud Land, East Antarctica . In Gjelsvikfjella it is on the north side of the Mayr range .
The first aerial photographs were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers, who also named the valley descriptively, mapped it using aerial photographs and surveys of the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–1952) and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) from 1958 to 1959.
