Sébastien Aymar Bassong Nguena (born July 9, 1986 in Paris ) is a French football player . He also has a Cameroon passport .

Player career

National

Sébastien Bassong comes from the youth of the traditional French club FC Metz . With the northern French, he rose in 2006/07 as a regular player in Ligue 1. After the direct relegation he was drawn to the English first division club Newcastle United . After relegation from Newcastle in the 2008/09 season, the tall defender moved to Tottenham Hotspur for £ 8 million.

Bassong made his Premier League debut on August 30, 2008 in the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal when he came on in the 44th minute for the injured José Enrique .

On January 31, 2012, Tottenham Hotspur announced that Bassong would be loaned to Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the season.

For the 2012/13 season, Bassong moved to league rivals Norwich City , where he signed a three-year contract until June 30, 2015.

International

Sébastien Bassong has made two appearances for France's U-21 national team . Sebastien Bassong decided to play for the national team of Cameroon and made his international debut against Austria on August 12, 2009. For the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa, he was appointed to the 23-strong Cameroonian squad .
