qualification
The team qualified through the qualifying games of the African Football Association CAF for the World Cup in South Africa .
In the second qualifying round, Cameroon met Cape Verde , Tanzania and Mauritius in Group 1 . In the six scheduled games, Cameroon clearly prevailed and advanced to the next group stage (third round) with five wins and a 0-0 draw against Tanzania.
There the Cameroonian national team met again in Group 1 against Morocco , Gabon and Togo . After Cameroon started as favorites here, too, they qualified as group winners for the World Cup finals.
With Samuel Eto'o (nine hits), Cameroon had the second best scorer in the CAF qualifying games behind Moumouni Dagano (Burkina Faso; twelve hits).

In the preliminary round of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the Cameroonian national football team met in Group E against the Netherlands , Denmark and Japan . After losing to Japan and Denmark, Cameroon was the first team in the World Cup to end the World Cup after two games. The last game, which had become meaningless, was also lost, so that Cameroon was one of the two countries that ended the 2010 World Cup without a single point win.
