Achille Emana Edzimbi (born June 5, 1982 in Yaoundé ) is a Cameroonian football player .

Club career

Emana came to Spain from his home country of Cameroon in 1999 to join Valencia CF and played in the second team there. In January 2000 he moved to France for Toulouse FC , which at the time played in Ligue 2 , but at the end of the season were relegated to the Championnat National , the third highest division in the country. The central midfielder was already in his first season, 2001/02, a fixture at Toulouse and managed with the club the direct return to Ligue 2. He was also a league higher he was one of the regulars and won the second division championship with the club and could also celebrate the march into Ligue 1 .

There he was able to establish himself with the club and achieved third place in the championship of the 2006/07 season, the best result in the history of Toulouse FC. Emana scored eight goals in 36 appearances that season and made an important contribution to achieving this place. The following season they failed in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League clearly against Liverpool (0: 5 in addition). In the UEFA Cup in 2007/08 , it was not much better, after two arduous games against Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia is qualified for the group stage, in which one retired with just three points from four games as a group last.

National team career

Achille Emana made his first appearances for the Cameroon national team in 2003 . He participated with the country selection in the Confederations Cup 2003 , which was overshadowed by the death of his teammate Marc-Vivien Foé . During the tournament, Emana first played in the last 90-minute group game against the USA and was substituted on in the final against France at the beginning of extra time. After seven minutes in extra time, Frenchman Thierry Henry scored the winning goal with a golden goal and Cameroon came second.

At the 2006 African Cup of Nations, he was in Cameroon's squad, but only came on as a substitute in two preliminary round matches during the tournament. The tournament ended for Cameroon after losing on penalties to Ivory Coast. For the African Cup of Nations 2008 , Emana was again called up to the squad of the indomitable lions .
