Mohamadou "Mo" Idrissou , also Mahammadou Idrissou , (born March 8, 1980 in Yaoundé ) is a Cameroonian football player . He is under contract with Rot-Weiss Frankfurt .

Career

In the club

The first stops in Idrissou's career were Racing Bafoussam and Cotonsport Garoua in Cameroon. During the winter break of the 2000/01 season he was brought to Germany by the Hessian league club FSV Frankfurt . At FSV he was able to prevail right away and scored 15 goals in 18 games. After the FSV was not promoted to the regional league at the end of the season, Idrissou moved to the 2001/02 season for regional league club SV Wehen . There he formed together with Saber Ben Neticha the most dangerous striker duo in the Regionalliga Süd. After this season, Idrissou moved to the newly promoted Bundesliga team Hannover 96 and immediately made it to the starting line-up. In the winter break of the 2004/05 season he was loaned to the French club SM Caen .

In January 2006 he had signed a contract with MSV Duisburg , but the MSV refrained from an obligation after the sports medical examination. Since he had already signed a termination agreement at Hannover 96 through his advisor, and 96 was not ready to sign him again, he was without a club. After a new sports medical examination at MSV Duisburg, he finally signed a contract until June 30, 2008 in June 2006. Shortly before the end of the transfer period, he moved to the second division club SC Freiburg in January 2008 , with whom he joined the Bundesliga in the 2008/09 season rise.

For the 2010/11 season, the Cameroonian moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Lower Rhine region for free , where he received a two-year contract. He came on 33 appearances during the round and scored five goals. Since coach Lucien Favre no longer planned with Idrissou for the 2011/12 season, he was released for a move. On August 31, 2011, he finally moved to the then second division club Eintracht Frankfurt . In his first appearance for Eintracht on the 7th matchday in the away game against FC Energie Cottbus , he scored the equalizer to 3: 3 in the 89th minute and with 14 goals this season became one of the guarantees for the immediate rise of Frankfurt. Nevertheless, Idrissou moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the summer break of 2012, despite an ongoing contract , where he signed a two-year contract. In his first game for FCK, he scored two goals in a 3: 3 against Union Berlin. In the 2013/14 season he scored four goals in the first four games and prepared one.

In the 2014/15 season he moved to Maccabi Haifa . There he was released after a short time and was without a club from November 14, 2014. On January 16, 2015, he signed a contract with the Macedonian first division club KF Shkëndija until the end of 2016, but switched to the German fifth division club KFC Uerdingen 05 in August 2015 . After one season, his contract with the Krefeld team was dissolved, which apparently ended Idrissou's sporting career. Idrissou then announced his move to Union Hallein via social networks at the beginning of 2018. He then played for the regional division FC Kufstein and the regional division DSV Leoben until December 2019 . At the beginning of 2020 Idrissou switched to the Hessian league club Rot-Weiss Frankfurt .

National team

As a Bundesliga player, Idrissou became Cameroon's national player in 2003. The highlight of his national team career was the second place in the Confederations Cup 2003. Idrissou was used in all five games for Cameroon, but remained without scoring. Idrissou was also positioned in the semi-final match against Colombia, when his teammate Marc-Vivien Foé collapsed on the field and later died in hospital.

Idrissou has been involved in legal proceedings on several occasions for child support payments for his five children.

Furthermore, the public prosecutor's office in Dortmund is still investigating the delay in bankruptcy in relation to his fashion boutique Royal Lion LLvip, which was closed in Werne an der Lippe in 2018 .

In December 2019 he was detained in Austria because he did not have a visa. After eleven days he was released and returned to Germany. He then terminated his contract with Leoben.

Controversy

Idrissou is considered a spirited, sometimes difficult player. During his engagement at SC Freiburg in February 2010, he caused additional unrest during a phase of unsatisfactory team performance when he expressed himself disparagingly to his comrades: “I don't feel like playing with you relegated anymore anyway. I'll be playing in the Champions League next year . ”During his subsequent time at Borussia Mönchengladbach, too, he attracted negative attention due to public criticism of the club. At an away game of Borussia in Freiburg in December 2010, he was greeted by the fans of his predecessor club sardonically with the battle cry "Idrissou plays Champions League on PS3 , all night, from 12 to 8" due to his comment at the time .

At the end of April 2013, after Kaiserslautern lost away from Energie Cottbus , Idrissou complained about the referee of the game, Wolfgang Stark , who didn't like his body language, with the words: “I'm not gay. I have male body language and I won't be a gay either. That's his problem, "Idrissou was a week later by a. DFB - Sports court sentenced to a fine of 3,000 euros. In a statement, Idrissou apologized for his statements and stressed that he did not mean "being gay" in a derogatory way.
