Aurélien Bayard Chedjou Fongang (born June 20, 1985 in Douala ), better known as Aurélien Chedjou , is a Cameroonian football player .

Career

Chedjou started his career at the Kadji Sports Academy , where players like Samuel Eto'o , Idriss Carlos Kameni and Éric Djemba-Djemba were also under contract.

In 2002 he moved to Spain and joined the squad of Villarreal , where he was only allowed to play in the B team. After a year on the Iberian Peninsula , he moved across the Pyrenees and played in the 2003/04 season at FC Pau, a lower-class club in France . About Pau and the second team of AJ Auxerre , which he belonged from 2004 to 2006, he came to FC Rouen , where he also remained without much success.

Fortunately, Lille OSC knocked on the defensive specialist and Chedjou signed a contract with the northern French in January 2007. There he was able to prevail as a player and made his Ligue 1 debut on December 1, 2007 against Olympique Marseille , when he was allowed to play through. The game ended 1-1. This season he came on another use against FC Toulouse . The 2008/09 season was the most successful in Chedjou's playing career so far. He became a regular player and was able to qualify with Lille by fifth place in the championship for the Europa League . He was used in 28 games. Chedjou's first game on the international stage he gave on August 6, 2009 in the second leg against the Serbian representative FK Sevojno . The game ended 2-0 for OSC, with the Cameroonian receiving a yellow card. With the 2-0 win in the first leg, Lille OSC rose to 4-0 overall and were in the play-off for the group stage of the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League .

In 2011 they won the double ( cup win and championship ).

In 2009 he was also able to make his debut for the Cameroon national team. In the World Cup qualifier for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Chedjou played 54 minutes against Morocco before being substituted for Daniel Ngom Kome .

He also took part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . He was used in all Cameroonian games, but was substituted in all group games. He played through in the quarter-finals against Italy , but could not prevent the 2-0 after extra time.

In July 2013, he moved to Turkish first division club Galatasaray Istanbul for 6.3 million euros and signed a four-year contract. He was able to crown this season with a cup win . In the following season he won the double with the "yellow-reds".

In summer 2017 he moved to city and league rivals Istanbul Başakşehir FK . Here he played one game and was out the rest of the season due to injury. For the season 208/19 he was loaned to the first division club Bursaspor .

During the summer transfer period of 2019, he prematurely terminated his contract with Istanbul Başakşehir FK and moved to SC Amiens .
