Daniel Armand Ngom Kome (born May 19, 1980 in Bangou ) is a Cameroonian football player . Due to his long career in Spanish football, he also has a Spanish passport.
Player career
The first years
Daniel Kome left his homeland in Cameroon in 1999 to seek his luck in Spanish football. His first stop was the Atlético Madrid B team , which at that time was playing in the Segunda División . There he first drew attention to himself with 3 goals in 33 games. When the B-Elf Atléticos had to relegate after the relegation of the first team, Kome left the club to join league rivals UD Levante . He was less fortunate there and so it happened that after a catastrophic season with only seven appearances, he switched to the first division relegated CD Numancia .
Top performers
After two years in which Kome found his old strength in Numancia, he and his team managed to move up to the first division in the third year. He, however, went to the newcomers Getafe FC , where he hoped for more opportunities. At Getafe he was able to show that the Cameroonian can also keep up in the Primera División. After he had achieved a good place with his team, he left them anyway, as he was often only substituted on. In the summer of 2005, Daniel Kome moved to the ambitious second division club Ciudad de Murcia , with whom he narrowly failed in promotion as fourth.
The last few years
After the missed promotion, Kome decided to accept the offer from first division club RCD Mallorca , where a compatriot, Samuel Eto'o, already made it big. In the Hinserie, however, he only came on five missions, which led to another club change. He returned to the second Spanish division, namely to Real Valladolid . There he was only used twice in the second half of the season, but his club rose to the first division. Both sides decided to continue working together, which ended in summer 2008. Kome switched to CD Tenerife .
International
Daniel Kome is the current national player for Cameroon . Among other things, he took part in the 2000 Olympic Games , the 2002 World Cup and the 2004 Africa Cup . His greatest success was winning the gold medal in Sydney against his footballing home country Spain in the final, which was only decided after a penalty shoot-out.
