Idriss Carlos Kameni (born February 18, 1984 in Douala ) is a French - Cameroonian football player on the position of goalkeeper. Kameni has both French and Cameroonian citizenship . He came to France at the age of 15.

Career

Club career

Kameni learned to play football in the youth team of the French second division club AC Le Havre . In the summer of 2004 he switched to the Spanish first division club Espanyol Barcelona as a goalkeeper for a transfer fee of 550,000 euros . In 2012 he moved within the Primera División to the Andalusian FC Málaga . After the 2017/2018 season, he moved to the Turkish Süper Lig for Fenerbahçe Istanbul . He left Fenerbahçe Istanbul in summer 2019 and has been without a club since then.

National team career

So far, Kameni has played 55 international matches for the Cameroon national football team (as of July 1, 2010). Kameni made his debut on May 25, 2001 in the game against South Korea in the senior team of his home country. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney , he became the youngest Olympic champion in football in the history of the Games at the age of 16. On penalties against Spain , Kameni secured Cameroon's first Olympic gold medal in the country's existence.

At the 2002 World Cup , Kameni was a substitute for Alioum Boukar . In 2003 he reached the final of the Confederations Cup with Cameroon . At the Africa Cup of 2004 he was eliminated with Cameroon as defending champion in the quarter-finals. Kameni was named Africa's Goalkeeper of the Year in 2004.

In 2008 he finished second in the Africa Cup . He lost with Cameroon in the final with 0: 1 against Egypt. At the 2010 World Cup , he was in the squad, but was not used.
