Sören Wendland

Sören Wendland (born October 30, 1985 ) is a former German football player .

career

Wendland, who comes from Cuxhaven , started playing American football with the Cuxhaven Northstars at the age of 14, from 2002 he played in the offspring of the Ritterhude Badgers , and in 2004 he played for the second division Weyhe Vikings . The 2.02 meter tall, first in the defensive line , later in the offensive line , Wendland then moved to the Hamburg Blue Devils , with whom he competed in the top German division, the GFL , in 2005 . He passed his Abitur exams at the Amandus Abendroth Gymnasium in Cuxhaven , and in 2006 Wendland went to Liberty University (US state Virginia ), began studying economics and played football on the local university team in the first NCAA division.

He did not succeed in making the leap into the NFL , and for the 2011 season Wendland moved to the Braunschweig Lions after returning to his home country . He played for Braunschweig until 2016 and during this time he won the German championship four times (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016) and three times the Eurobowl (2015, 2016, 2017). He missed much of the 2012 season with a knee injury.

After his playing career, he started working as a football camp provider in 2016.
