The Sörling Valley is an ice-free valley in the north of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It lies between Cumberland East Bay and Hound Bay at the base of the Barff Peninsula .
The South Georgia Survey took surveys between 1951 and 1957 . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1958 after Erik Sörling from the Naturhistoriska riksmuseet in Stockholm , who built up the zoological collection on South Georgia there between 1904 and 1905.
