The Hound Bay is a 4km wide and 5km deep bay on the north coast of South Georgia . It is located between Tijuca Point and Cape Vakop .
The bay was previously listed on maps under the names George Bay and Hundebugten . According to the South Georgia Survey between 1951 and 1952, however, the bay was known to whalers under the name Bikjebugten ( Norwegian for dog bay ), which the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated into English in 1955.
