Cape Vakop is a cape on the north coast of South Georgia . It lies between Hound Bay and Luisa Bay . Antrim Island is immediately in front of the cape .
The cape was mapped during the Second German Antarctic Expedition (1911–1912) under the direction of polar explorer Wilhelm Filchner . The name appears for the first time on map material that scientists of the British Discovery Investigations created between 1926 and 1930, although the name was probably made much earlier. The exact naming background is not known.
