history

On November 27, 1944, British carrier aircraft sank the Rigel prisoner transport off Rosøya , and 2,571 people - from the Soviet Union, Poland, Yugoslavia, Norway, Germany and (annexed) Austria - were killed. This is Norway's largest shipping disaster to date. The wreck was cleared in 1975.
