Season report

In the first season of the South American Formula 4 Championship, a total of 22 drivers from Argentina , Brazil , Chile , Mexico and Uruguay competed. With eight drivers, most of the participants came from Uruguay. The season was marked by changing starting fields. There were changes before every race weekend. Only Bruno Baptista and Felipe Ortiz competed in each race. The third event in El Pinar was the run with the most starters with ten drivers.

The drivers had different experiences before they started. While some drivers switched straight from karting to series production, there were some drivers who had already gained several years of experience in touring car or formula series. A total of seven drivers won at least one race in 2014. In four out of eight events, all races were won by just one driver.

After Frederick Balbi had won the season opener, Ortiz took the lead from the second race. In the first half of the season, the lead finally switched three times between Ortiz and Baptista. These two drivers were the only ones who competed in every race. Baptista was consistently at the top in the second half of the season. Baptista and Agustín Lima Capitao were the drivers who had won the most races with four wins each. Martín Ponte , who only started twice, won every race he took part in. Baptista did not finish only two races in one of the first three places and was therefore at the end of the season with 352 to 264 points at Ortiz in first place. Lima Capitao, who was only used in the second half of the season, was third overall.
