Südtirol 1 is a South Tyrolean radio station . In 2012 the station had a daily reach of 93,000 listeners in South Tyrol, where it had the second largest number of listeners after Ö3 (179,000) with 169,000 listeners . The private broadcaster is comparable in its program Ö3 and can be assigned to the radio format Adult Contemporary . Südtirol 1 uses the Südtirol Journal as its news program .

history

Südtirol 1 was founded in 2001. The station emerged from Radio Sarner Welle , which had existed since 1978 and which, after a change of ownership, transmitted its former frequencies to Südtirol 1. After the station's owning company bought its competitor Radio Tirol in 2004, they moved into a new joint broadcasting facility in Bolzano in 2008 . Südtirol 1 has been part of the Athesia Group's media portfolio since 2017 .
