Christoph Franceschini

Christoph Franceschini (born December 22, 1964 in Eppan ) is a journalist and documentary filmmaker from South Tyrol .

biography

Franceschini studied history, philosophy and political science at the University of Innsbruck , but did not graduate. The manuscript of his diploma thesis that was not submitted was later quoted by his supervisor Rolf Steininger in his historical work. Since 1984 he has been a freelancer for the Rai broadcaster Bozen (now Rai Südtirol ), and from 1996 to 2013 he was editor of the Neue Südtiroler Tageszeitung . Since then he has published his articles and reports on the news website salto.bz , which he also served as editor-in-chief from 2016 to 2019. He is considered to be one of the best networked political journalists in South Tyrol and as such was responsible for numerous Scoops .

Franceschini is the author of several television documentaries, including the six-part series Bomb Years - History of the South Tyrolean Attacks, completed in 2004 together with Helmut Lechthaler . In 2005 they received the Prof. Claus Gatterer Prize for their work, the broadcast of which was initially delayed by political interventions .

In addition to his work as a journalist, Franceschini was active in local politics in his home town Eppan in a citizens' list.
