Edition Raetia is a regional literary and non-fiction book publisher based in Bolzano . It was founded in 1991 by Gottfried Solderer , editor-in-chief of the South Tyrolean weekly magazine ff . In 2012, the two film service companies Dolomyte and Albolina as well as the editing cooperative Ex Libris emerged from the publishing house .

Publisher profile

Regional history: In the first 15 years of the publisher's existence, the program focused on publications on contemporary South Tyrolean history . During this time, Raetia-Verlag published a number of biographies of important political figures in South Tyrol's post-war history. Overviews of the years of South Tyrolean terrorism and the entire 20th century were also created; the books were designed in a journalistic style for a broad regional readership.

In the later years, cultural-historical topics ( e.g. women's and tourism history ) expanded the historical focus of the program. In the “Memoria” series, the publisher began collecting biographical everyday and war memories of the 20th century. In the early 1990s, Edition Raetia posthumously published selected works by the South Tyrolean historian Claus Gatterer with a scientific claim . Since 2009 the publishing house has been publishing a political science yearbook with a connection to South Tyrol.

Fiction: The publishing house sees itself in the literary segment as a discoverer and promoter of young authors. Of these, Selma Mahlknecht was able to publish several successful books in Raetia-Verlag. The best-known protagonists of the South Tyrolean art and literature scene, who have occasionally published works at Edition Raetia, include the writers Herbert Rosendorfer , Joseph Zoderer and the painter Markus Vallazza . With sophisticated new editions of works by Egon Erwin Kisch and Jakob Philipp Fallmerayer , the publisher was able to reach a nationwide audience at certain points.

Non-fiction and tourism literature: In the publisher's supporting program , culinary Tirolensia , regional mountain books and cultural and hiking guides appear at irregular intervals .

Italian books: With the name allusion to the ancient people of the Raetians , Edition Raetia wanted to express a multilingual program orientation as early as 1991. The small Italian-language book segment consistently includes translations of German-language publications from our own program, especially from the areas of regional history and mountain tourism. Occasionally, historical or literary first publications by Italian-speaking regional authors are also published. Multilingual text collections, which occasionally include Ladin works, appear e.g. T. in the context of the literary annual filadrëssa .
