Manfred Schullian (born March 9, 1962 in Bozen ) is a German-speaking Italian politician, lawyer and writer from South Tyrol .

biography

Schullian grew up in Kaltern and completed a degree in law offered jointly by the Universities of Innsbruck and Padua , which he completed in 1986 with a dissertation . During his studies, he also took part in German studies for several semesters. Professionally, he then began to work as a lawyer in Bolzano; He was also chairman of the Erste & Neue Kellerei from 2006 to 2015 . He also wrote a children's book and a volume of stories.

Schullian was politically active first for a citizens' list, later for the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP) in his home town of Kaltern, where he was a member of the community committee as a consultant for urban planning, construction, traffic and police. In the SVP-internal primaries to rank the candidates for the Chamber of Deputies for the parliamentary elections in 2013 , he only came in fourth place, which is not very promising. In the elections on February 24th and 25th, the SVP achieved 24.2% of the votes in the multi-person constituency of Trentino-South Tyrol , whereby Schullian surprisingly managed to get into the Chamber of Deputies due to the majority bonus for the victorious coalition. In the 2018 parliamentary elections , he ran as the list leader of his party in the multi-person constituency of Trentino-South Tyrol. This time the SVP received 24.17% of the votes at regional level, which confirmed Schullian as a member of the Chamber.
