Renzo Caramaschi

Renzo Caramaschi (born March 4, 1946 in Bolzano ) is an Italian politician , retired civil servant , photographer and author . He lives in Bolzano ( South Tyrol ) and has been the city's mayor since 2016 .

Life

He completed his studies in economics at the University of Padua in 1969 with a thesis on the subject of Innovazione ed organizzazione aziendale (“Innovation and Business Organization”).

After his military service, he began his civil service career in the municipal administration of Bolzano in 1971, where he worked as general director from 2001 until his retirement in 2010. In the years from 2002 to 2010 he appeared repeatedly at events that dealt with the innovations in public administration, e. B. at the Forum della pubblica amministrazione , as well as in master courses at the University of Rome on the subject of innovation e management nelle amministrazioni pubbliche .

His love for the mountains and his passion for photography have found expression in several books. Caramaschi has also presented several novels with mostly historical themes.

In 2016, the non-party Caramaschi ran for a center-left alliance ( Partito Democratico , Verdi Grüne Vërc , Sinistra Ecologia Libertà and others) in the Bolzano mayoral election. He entered the runoff election on May 22nd as the first-placed candidate and was elected mayor with 55.72% of the vote.
