Hubert Stuppner

Hubert Stuppner (* 1944 in Truden , South Tyrol ) is an Italian composer .

biography

Stuppner studied piano with Nunzio Montanari and composition with Andrea Mascagni in Bozen ; graduated from the University of Padua with a degree in musicology. From 1970 to 1981 he was professor of analysis and harmony at the “Claudio Monteverdi” Conservatory in Bolzano , where he was director from 1981 to 1996. From 1982 to 1996 he chaired the jury of the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano. He is also the founder and director of the Bolzano Contemporary Music Festival.

Stuppner received numerous composition commissions, including from the Donaueschinger Musiktage , the Südwestfunk Baden-Baden, the Staatstheater Stuttgart , the German television ZDF, the Berlin Academy of the Arts , the Salzburg Festival , the Venice Biennale , the Warsaw Chamber Opera and the Kronos Quartet .
