  • Formal Tyrolensia: Literature that is produced or published in Tyrol, but otherwise has no Tyrol reference whatsoever (for example an illustrated book about Nepal , published by a Tyrolean publishing house, diploma theses , dissertations ). • Content-related Tirolensien: literature with a content-related connection to Tirol (for example an illustrated book about the Stubai Alps) regardless of the place / country or language of publication.

Tyrolean literature is considered to be well anchored in the community and is carefully promoted by the regional governments in North, South and East Tyrol. The anchoring and dynamism of the literary scene are not least reflected in the regional publishing industry. From the late 1980s onwards, alongside the traditional Tyrolean publishers Tyrolia and Athesia , smaller competing publishers such as Edition Raetia or Skarabaeus were able to establish themselves in the long term. The authors generally endeavor to find accommodation in internationally active publishers, although Folio Verlag (Bozen, Vienna), Kyrene Verlag (Innsbruck, Vienna), Limbus Verlag (Innsbruck) and Haymon Verlag (Innsbruck, Vienna) are also internationally active on site Publishers are located.
