Luis Stefan Stecher

Luis Stefan Stecher (born June 7, 1937 in Laas , South Tyrol ) is a German-speaking poet and visual artist from South Tyrol. He lives in Marling .

Life

Luis Stefan Stecher grew up in Innsbruck and Laas in Vinschgau . After attending secondary school in Innsbruck, he completed an apprenticeship in lithography; he then studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and at the Academy of Fine Arts . He is a member of the PEN-Club Liechtenstein , a center of the international writers' association PEN

In 2001 he painted a dance of death cycle on the wall of the St. Ulrich in Plaus church , with rhymes in South Tyrolean dialect.

Awards

In 1968 Luis Stefan Stecher received the Walther-von-der-Vogelweide sponsorship award from the Munich Cultural Center for South Tyrol. In 1977 he won the literature prize of the city of Feldkirch and the Vorarlberg PEN Club. In 1990 he was honored with the Tyrolean Cross of Merit . On February 20, 2019, he was awarded the Decoration of Honor of the State of Tyrol .
