Johann Holzner (born September 16, 1948 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian German studies scholar and university professor.

Life

Johann Holzner studied history, German language and literature and philosophy after attending the academic high school in Innsbruck (graduation in 1972 from the University of Innsbruck: Dr. et Mag. Phil.). In 1985 he became a university lecturer (modern German language and literature), in 1994 Ao. Univ.-Prof. at the Institute for German Studies at the University of Innsbruck . 2001–2013 he was head of the Brenner Archive research institute at the University of Innsbruck. - Lecturer at the University of Wrocław (1979/80), University of Salzburg (1986), University of California, Santa Barbara (1994 and 1996), University of St. Petersburg (1998), University of Jyväskylä (2009) and University of Maribor (2012) ). Since 2014 he has been chairman of the Society of Friends and Patrons of the Theodor Fontane Archive in Potsdam, and since 2016 chairman of the International Trakl Forum in Salzburg.

Johann Holzner is married to the writer Dragica Rajčić .
