Lenz Koppelstätter

Lenz Koppelstätter (* 1982 in Bolzano ) is a German-speaking South Tyrolean journalist and crime writer. Since 2015 he has published the crime series about the South Tyrolean inspector Grauner.

biography

Lenz Koppelstätter was born and raised in South Tyrol in Bozen or Tramin . At the age of 13 he was Italian champion in cross-country. He later studied politics in Bologna and went to Berlin to study social sciences. He graduated from the German School of Journalism and then worked as a freelance journalist and author from 2009 to 2013, including for newspapers and magazines such as FAZ , Die Zeit , Tagesspiegel and Geo , and as a media developer. After more than 13 years in Germany, he returned to South Tyrol.

In 2015 he published his first crime novel Der Tote am Gletscher . He plays in the Ötztal Alps and also deals with the discovery of the glacier mummy Ötzi . This and its following crime novels are typical regional crime novels . Investigators are Commissario Grauner, who is also a cattle farmer, and Ispettore Saltapepe, who was transferred from southern Italy to the Alps. Typical motifs of Koppelstätter's novels are the village communities in the valley regions. The third novel Nachts am Brenner takes place on the Brenner Pass and in Bozen , among other places .
