Joseph-Eugène Limoges

Joseph-Eugène Limoges (born November 16, 1879 in Sainte-Scholastique , Québec , † March 1, 1965 in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts ) was a Canadian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Mont-Laurier .

Life

Joseph-Eugène Limoges attended the Collège Saint-Laurent before starting to study philosophy and Catholic theology in 1899 . He received on 20 December 1902, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Limoges then worked as parish vicar in Montcerf . In 1918 he became pastor of the parish of Saint-Jovite .

On September 11, 1922, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Bishop of Mont-Laurier. The Archbishop of Ottawa , Joseph-Médard Émard , donated him episcopal ordination on November 30 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Joliette , Joseph-Guillaume-Laurent Forbes , and the Bishop of Pembroke , Patrick Thomas Ryan . Pope Pius XII awarded him the personal title of Archbishop on October 24, 1957.

His tomb is in the Notre-Dame-de-Fourvière cathedral in Mont-Laurier .
