Bishop François-Xavier Brunet

François-Xavier Brunet (born November 26, 1868 in Saint-André-d'Argenteuil , Québec , † January 7, 1922 in Montreal ) was a Canadian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Mont-Laurier .

Life

François-Xavier Brunet studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the seminary in Ottawa . He received on 23 September 1893 by the Archbishop of Ottawa , Joseph-Thomas Duhamel , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Brunet then worked as parish vicar in Ottawa, Masson-Angers , Thurso and Aylmer . In 1895 he became curate in Mayo and in 1900 in Bourget . François-Xavier Brunet became personal secretary to the Archbishop of Ottawa, Joseph-Thomas Duhamel in 1904.

On August 6, 1913, Pope Pius X appointed him the first bishop of Mont-Laurier. The Archbishop of Ottawa, Charles Hugh Gauthier , donated him episcopal ordination on October 28 of that year ; Co- consecrators were the Vicar Apostolic of Temiskaming , Élie Anicet Latulipe , and the Bishop of Pembroke , Patrick Thomas Ryan .
