history

The diocese of Mont-Laurier was established on April 21, 1913 by Pope Pius X from cessions of territory from the Archdiocese of Ottawa . On June 23, 1951, the diocese of Mont-Laurier gave up parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Saint-Jérôme .

Pope Francis united the diocese on June 1, 2020 in persona episcopi with the diocese of Saint-Jérôme.

The diocese of Mont-Laurier is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Gatineau as a suffragan .
