André Ouellette

Joseph Louis André Ouellette (born February 4, 1913 in Salem , Massachusetts , USA ; † October 11, 2001 in Mont-Laurier , Québec , Canada ) was an American-Canadian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Mont-Laurier .

Life

André Ouellette attended school in Salem and studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Trois-Rivières . He received on 11 June 1938, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Ouellette then taught philosophy in Trois-Rivières and Catholic theology at Laval University in Québec . He was later a Regens of the seminary in Trois-Rivières.

On November 29, 1956, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Carrhae and auxiliary bishop in Mont-Laurier. The Bishop of Mont-Laurier, Joseph-Eugène Limoges , donated him episcopal ordination on February 25, 1957 in Trois-Rivières ; Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishop in Chicoutimi , Marius Paré , and the bishop of Trois Rivières , Georges Léon Pelletier .

Ouellette participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council . Pope Paul VI appointed him on March 27, 1965 Bishop of Mont-Laurier. The inauguration took place on June 6 of the same year. Joseph Louis André Ouellette resigned as Bishop of Mont-Laurier on May 10, 1978.

His tomb is in the Notre-Dame-de-Fourvière cathedral in Mont-Laurier.
