Assomption Cathedral in Trois Rivières

The diocese of Trois Rivières was on June 8, 1852 by Pope Pius IX. built from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Québec and subordinated to this as a suffragan . The Diocese of Trois Rivières gave up on August 28, 1874 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Sherbrooke . Further assignments took place on July 11, 1882 to found the Apostolic Vicariate Pontiac and on July 10, 1885 to found the Diocese of Nicolet .
