Martin Veillette

Martin Veillette (born November 16, 1936 in La Tuque ) is a Canadian clergyman and emeritus bishop of Trois Rivières .

Life

Martin Veillette was ordained a priest for the diocese of Trois Rivières on June 12, 1960 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop in Trois Rivières and Titular Bishop of Valabria on October 17, 1986 . The Archbishop of Québec , Louis-Albert Cardinal Vachon , donated him episcopal ordination on December 13 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Laurent Noël , Bishop of Trois Rivières, and Jean-Guy Hamelin , Bishop of Rouyn-Noranda .

On November 21, 1996 he was appointed Bishop of Trois Rivières.

On February 1, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. Martin Veillette's application for resignation for reasons of age.
